INSPIRATION

CONTEXT
Giardino dei Tarocchi in Italy. Created by Nikki de Saint Palle with inspiration from Gaudí.

I visited the park this summer and was amazed and inspired by the grand constructions and use of shape, color and many different materials.

I have been inspired from this costume and the world/atmosphere it created as well as movement score of mirroring ever since I danced with the beautiful mirror human in my first Roskilde Festival.

"Let's Pretend We Have a Plan(-t)"

An interactive installation I made in collaboration with Ane Carlsen and presented at Thesmoforia Festival in Copenhagen 2019.
Materials:
- Computers and screens (and tons of wires)
- Projector
- Video recordings w. sound
- Plastic plants
- Latter and shelf system

Personal experience from dance performances at school where I perceived especially scenography to be de-prioritized (and thus using the empty stage as scenography). Also the role/placement of costume, light and music in the hierachy of the production, I believe can be questioned and reflected upon.

We used the "outside-in" (as opposed to "inside-out" in theatre theory) method in the creation of the characters as well as the piece; starting from a text, finding scenography, trying forms of speech and performativity, finding costumes and make-up, creating movement style and character traits from the way of speaking alongside costume. Dramaturgy developed through use of scenography and the dramaturgy of the text. In the end, meaning and a world was created.
My High School graduation project in Drama class, 2015.
I ended up not including mirrors in my research this time, as I found it to be too many materials to encounter in too short time. I still think there is an interesting relation to discover between glass and mirrors and rich potential to create a specific atmospheric "world" on stage through these materials. I would like to investigate if starting from creating the setting would help evoke ideas for creating movement and performance material
